Nippon’s Mute It! heard by SBS6

Nippon TV’s Mute It!

Dutch broadcaster SBS6 has commissioned a local version of Japanese gameshow format Mute It!, marking the first European order of the show.

Warner Bros International Television Production (WBITVP) has agreed a multi-territory deal to develop and produce the format, which originated on Japanese network Nippon TV.

In the format, contestants must make their way through various obstacle courses without making a sound louder than 50 decibels.

Warner-owned Dutch prodco BlazHoffski will work on the six-part SBS6 version, which is due to premiere on March 12.

After Mute It! aired in Japan in 2020, Nippon unveiled it to the international market at the same year’s MipTV in Cannes.

Nippon handles international sales of the format in Asia and Latin America, where WBITVP does not have a production company. WBITVP will handle local adaptations in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany and Nordic countries, among others.
