Nippon TV unveils formats for Mip

Japanese broadcaster Nippon TV will take five new formats to the MipTV market in Cannes this April.

Nippon TV’s slate consists of two scripted formats based on its dramas Your Home Is My Business! and Lost ID in addition to three non-scripted formats, Meet Me There, Ghostwriter to the Rescue and Grab the Chance.

Your Home is my Business! follows a real-estate saleswoman who pries into the private lives of her clients and uses an array of tactics to secure them the perfect home, while Lost ID centres on an engineer who loses his identity after he is removed from the family registry and has his bank accounts seized and employment terminated.

Meet Me There, meanwhile, is a romance format based on the idea that every couple has a special place that marks a turning point in their story, with the show asking viewers: if you received a handwritten note saying ‘meet me there,’ where would you go?

Ghostwriters to the Rescue sees celebrities help members of the public script a special moment, while Grab the Chance offers people on the street a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that they must accept or decline immediately.

Atsushi Hatayama, president of international business development for Nippon, said the firm would be moving to a new booth, #P1F55, at this year’s MipTV, which runs from April 3 to 6.

At Mipcom last October, Nippon TV struck the country’s first ever drama format deal with Turkey.

Mother (11×60’) was sold to Turkish prodco MF Yapim and Medyapim, and has been remade as Anne (Turkish for ‘mother,’ 11×90’) for Star TV.
