NFL touches down on Channel 5

Channel 5 last aired NFL coverage in 2009

UK broadcaster Channel 5 will bring American football coverage back to the country after ViacomCBS Networks International (VCNI) signed a deal with the National Football League (NFL).

Under the three-year deal, C5 will start airing Monday Night Football from next week and a new Sunday morning magazine programme called NFL End Zone this weekend.

Monday Night Football will be broadcast from C5’s studio in LA, where presenter Kirsten Watson will be joined by former All-Pro Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew and other special guests.

NFL End Zone will be presented by US actor and singer Cory Yarckin and will delve deeper into the culture behind the sport. It will be filmed on location in the US each week.

Channel 5 previously aired NFL coverage from 1998 to 2009.

As part of the deal, ViacomCBS-owned MTV International will also broadcast NFL content across its digital platforms in the UK.
