Newen Studios Group-backed Ringside Studios hires producer Lee Thomas

Ringside Studios, the UK production company led by former Channel 4 head of drama Gub Neal and backed by France’s Newen Studios Group, has hired producer Lee Thomas.

Thomas will work alongside exec producer Edward Barlow on Ringside Studios productions and with Neal and MD Kate Bennetts on projects Ringside is involved in via investment arm Ringside Media.

The latter has taken stakes in five other scripted production companies: Fictionhouse, Further South Productions, Slate Entertainment, B Side Film & TV and Joi Productions.

Thomas will also continue to develop his own slate of projects to be produced through Ringside.

Thomas recently finished filming No Escape, a mystery thriller series shot in Thailand for Paramount+. His previous TV work includes the first season of HBO and the BBC’s investment-banking series Industry and ITV‘s true crime drama White House Farm.

Film work, produced through his indie label Prodigal, includes Shola Amoo’s The Last Tree. Thomas also produced Oscar-nominated short The Voorman Problem, based on an extract from David Mitchell novel Number9Dream.
