New Hispanic role for Discovery exec

Discovery Networks US has promoted 10-year company veteran Allan Navarrete to the post of VP of US Hispanic networks distribution, affiliate sales and marketing.

Navarrete joins Discovery’s domestic networks group from Discovery Networks Latin America/Iberia, where he most recently served as executive director of affiliate sales and relations.

Reporting to Lori McFarling, senior VP for affiliate sales and marketing, Navarrete, who relocates to Discovery Communications’ headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland, will oversees all strategy and distribution efforts for the company’s portfolio of domestic Spanish-language offerings. This includes Discovery en Español, Discovery Kids en Español and Discovery Travel & Living (Viajar y Vivir), as well as Discovery’s Hispanic video-on-demand product.

Navarrete is also charged with designing and overseeing execution of national field sales agenda, developing strategies to optimise sales positioning for each channel and identifying further distribution objectives.

“Allan’s successful track record of aggressively growing distribution of Discovery’s Spanish-language networks in the international marketplace makes him the perfect candidate to lead the sales effort for Discovery’s portfolio of new US Spanish-language products,” said McFarling.

Navarrete spent a decade driving distribution for Discovery’s international networks in Latin America/Iberia. He quickly moved through the ranks of the international sales division, most recently serving as executive director, overseeing distribution for nine Discovery networks throughout the territory.
