Netflix to play Xilam’s Trico

Trico is set to launch in 2022

Global streaming giant Netflix has picked up a CGI animated kids series from French producer Xilam Animation.

Non-verbal slapstick comedy series Trico will be launched as a Netflix Original on its service globally.

The 78×7’ series was created by Xilam’s Hugo Gittard (Zig & Sharko, Magoo) and is slated for delivery in early 2022.

The plot focuses on a former globetrotting sheep who finds mountain pasture life too boring after travelling the world and uses objects from his past to enliven life for his fellow sheep, all while keeping a hungry wolf at bay.

Xilam retains second-window global linear television distribution and merchandising rights. The company is also in production on Netflix’s first French animated original, Oggy Oggy (156×7’), which is targeted at a preschool audience and is set to be delivered in 2021.

Oggy Oggy is based on Xilam’s global hit franchise Oggy & the Cockroaches. It sees young Oggy freed from the ceaseless tyranny of the cockroaches and living in a fantasy world inhabited by a vibrant community of cats.
