Netflix takes Nicky Jam drama global

Netflix has picked up global rights to a Telemundo drama about the life of Latino musician Nicky Jam.

Nicky Jam: El Ganador

Nicky Jam: El Ganador is produced by Endemol Shine Boomdog, the Spanish-language prodco launched in November by Endemol Shine Latino and Mexico City prodco Boomdog.

The drama began production in Medellín, Colombia this week and will feature the Reggaeton performer, who endured a troubled early life in Boston before becoming a star of the genre. It will launch on Netflix globally, except in the US, where it will air first on Telemundo.

The show will follow the highs and lows experienced by one of the most prolific artists in the genre. Jessy Terrero is attached to direct.
