Netflix takes Israeli psych drama

Blackspace focuses on the investigation into a school shooting

Global streaming giant Netflix has picked up Israeli psychological drama Blackspace from Paris-based producer and distributor Federation Entertainment.

RTL in Germany and NPO in the Netherlands have also acquired the 8×60’ drama, with Netflix taking it in all remaining territories in a worldwide deal.

The drama, set in an Israeli high school, was written by Anat Gafni and Sahar Shavit and directed by Ofir Lobel.

It is coproduced by Drama Team (Chaim Sharir, Mosh Danon) and Federation Entertainment (Pascal Breton, Lionel Uzan) for Israeli broadcaster Reshet 13. The network recently greenlit a second season.

The plot centres on a school shooting that leaves four students dead which is investigated by a lead detective who attended the school himself and experienced a trauma many years before.

Federation holds worldwide rights.
