Netflix, SVT, CBC add Sinking Ship shows

Children’s comedy series Odd Squad

Netflix, Sweden’s SVT and Canada’s CBC are among the latest platforms and broadcasters to have acquired kids’ programming from Toronto-based producer and distributor Sinking Ship Entertainment.

Netflix has picked up live-action maths and science comedy show Odd Squad for its platform in Canada and relicensed the show for India and German-speaking Europe.

Pubcaster SVT has relicensed the second season of Odd Squad, while BBC kids’ channel CBBC in the UK has relicensed season one, Hop! in Israel has bought season three and South Korea’s Coupang has picked up two seasons.

SVT has also acquired CGI/live-action sci-fi and STEM comedy series Annedroids, as has fellow pubcaster NRK in Norway, while Knowledge Kids and TVO Kids in Canada have relicensed the series.

SVT’s final acquisition is season two of CGI/live-action sci-fi show Endlings, while Canuck pubcaster the CBC has relicensed preschool animated series Chirp.

Coupang has also picked up live-action science-focused adventure show Dino Dana, as has Astro in Malaysia and Brunei, while Hop! has acquired the fourth season and relicensed the first.
