Netflix smokes out BBQ series

Warrior Nun’s first season was filmed in Malaga

Netflix has greenlit a food-themed competition series from Maverick TV USA and All3Media America and renewed drama Warrior Nun for a second season.

American Barbecue Showdown follows the nation’s best backyard smokers and competitive barbecuers as they vie for the title of American Barbecue Champion.

Former Top Gear host Rutledge Wood and AP Bio star Lyric Lews will host the show, with Kevin Bludso and Melissa Cookston serving as judges. The streamer has ordered eight episodes of the show.

Warrior Nun, meanwhile, will return after Netflix renewed the scripted series for a second season.

The first run was shot in Malaga and told the story of a 19-year-old who wakes up in a morgue with a new lease on life and a divine artefact embedded in her back.
