Netflix orders Facebook scam doc Sweet Bobby from factual specialist Raw TV

Sweet Bobby is based on a podcast series from Tortoise Media

Netflix has commissioned a feature-length documentary about an elaborate catfish scam from The Tinder Swindler maker Raw TV.

Sweet Bobby, based on a podcast series of the same name from Tortoise Media, will be produced by Raw, the London-based All3Media-owned indie behind Netflix true crime hits The Tinder Swindler and Don’t F**k With Cats.

It tells the story of how radio presenter Kirat Assi fell in love with man called ‘Bobby’ on Facebook. However, as their digital romance developed, Assi found herself embroiled in a web of deception that spanned a decade and involved more than 60 fabricated characters.

The film is directed by Lyttanya Shannon (Subnormal: A British Scandal) and executive produced by Rebecca North (American Nightmare).
