Danish crime series The Asset has been given a second series

Netflix has renewed Danish crime series The Asset, with prodco Profile Pictures set to begin production in Copenhagen later this year.

According to Netflix, the first season, which premiered last October, quickly placed at the top of its global hit lists.

“We are very excited about the opportunity to delve deeper into each character and unfold their stories. The second season turns everything upside down as Tea and Ashley’s worlds collide once again, and new challenges push them to the breaking point,” said Samanou Acheche Sahlstrøm, conceptual director and lead writer.

The producer team includes Jacob Jarek, Marta Mleczek and Matilda Appelin, while Frederik Ringtved and Samanou Acheche Sahlstrøm serve as head writers.

The first season introduced a young police trainee, Tea (Clara Dessau), who was offered her dream job to go undercover and infiltrate a brutal drug gang. The mission brings her close to the ringleader’s charismatic wife, Ashley (Maria Cordsen), but soon the lines between loyalty and deception begin to blur.
