Netflix lines up more Narcos

Narcos will continue without Pablo Escobar

Narcos will continue without Pablo Escobar

Netflix has renewed its Pablo Escobar drama Narcos for third and fourth seasons.

The new episodes will continue beyond the death of the Colombian drug kingpin, following the rise and fall of his cartel.

The order comes after Narcos showrunner Eric Newman told delegates at C21’s inaugural Drama Summit West event that plans were in place for more seasons of the programme.

Gene Stein, president of the show’s producer Gaumont Television US, also said at the May event that the studio “would love the show to go on for many, many years.”

Narcos has gone on to become one of the US streaming service’s most critically acclaimed originals and has also been picked up by US Hispanic broadcaster Univision.

Netflix has not revealed how many episodes will feature in the next two runs, but the third instalment will be made available in 2017. The second season of Narcos launched last Friday.

José Padilha (RoboCop) and Newman (Children of Men) will continue as executive producers on the new seasons.
