Netflix lines up fertility industry doc about donor who ‘fathered 500-plus children’

Netflix is working on a documentary series about the Dutch YouTuber accused of fathering more than 500 children via sperm donations.

Jonathan Meijer

Netflix and Curious Films are in production on Fertility Fraudster (working title), which will tell the tale of Jonathan Meijer, who has been ordered by a Dutch court to stop donating to clinics, having fathered over 100 children in the Netherlands alone.

Since the ban, Meijer has reportedly continued to provide sperm to clinics that operate internationally, and the three-part series will also investigate the broader fertility industry and look at how a lack of global regulation means some international clinics continue to allow anonymous donations.

The doc has access to women affected by the case and will follow their efforts to change the law to prevent Meijer fathering more offspring.

A Curious Films and AJH Films coproduction, it will be directed by Josh Allott and series produced by Kathryn Taylor. The executive producers are Dov Freedman, Jessie Versluys and Natalie Hill for Curious Films and Alex Holder for AJH Films.
