Netflix in talks to spice up live offering with Hot Ones episodes from YouTube

Hot Ones host Sean Evans

Netflix is reportedly in discussions to acquire some live episodes of the popular YouTube wing-eating interview format Hot Ones.

The potential deal, first reported by Bloomberg, would see Netflix exclusively carry some live episodes of the show, which is hosted by Sean Evans and produced by BuzzFeed’s First We Feast.

The format sees celebrities being interviewed by Evans while eating chicken wings, each one hotter than the one before it.

Created by First We Feast’s general manager Chris Schonberger, the series launched in 2015 and is entering its 25th season. The show attracts major stars, with past guests including Margot Robbie, David Beckham, Dua Lipa, Lewis Hamilton, Jimmy Kimmel, Shakira and Sydney Sweeney over nearly 350 episodes.

On YouTube, episodes of the series regularly score impressive viewership, with Gordon Ramsay’s appearance garnering 128 million views to date. Other episodes and celebrities to have garnered large numbers include Billie Eilish (51 million), Shaquille O’Neal (43 million) and Kevin Hart (38 million).

News of the potential Netflix deal comes with Buzzfeed reportedly looking to sell First We Feast.
