The 8×60’/9×50’ series stars Hollywood star Maggie Gyllenhaal (Secretary) in her first TV role and was created by Hugo Blick (The Shadow Line).

The show will be available to Netflix’s US subscribers and will air in Israel (HOT), Canada (CBC), Iceland (RUV) and Norway (TV2).

Spain’s Canal+ has also acquired the show, which will also air on BBC Entertainment in South Africa and fledgling drama-skewing channel BBC First in Australia.

The series, which has already been sold into Scandinavia, is produced by Eight Rooks Productions and Drama Republic for BBC2, with Sundance as copro partner. BBC Worldwide (BBCWW) is handling the distribution.

Gyllenhaal plays a woman who inherits her father’s arms company after his death and is later elevated to the UK’s House of Lords.

The show will be part of BBCWW’s drama slate at Mipcom next week, which also includes: paranormal thriller Intruders (8×43’); family show Our Zoo (6×50’); thriller The Refugees (8×50’); and First World War drama The Passing Bells (5×30’/4×45’/2×90’).

Returning series include season eight of Doctor Who, the second run of Atlantis and the third of Ripper Street.
