Netflix docuseries delves into unsolved murder of UK TV presenter Jill Dando

Jill Dando was shot outside her London home in 1999

Streaming giant Netflix has ordered a documentary series about the unsolved murder of UK television presenter Jill Dando.

The as-yet-untitled doc will be produced by Emma Cooper’s label Empress Films, which previously made factual content such as Diana for CNN and The Mystery of Marilyn Monroe: The Unheard Tapes for Netflix.

The series details how Dando, one of the country’s most popular TV presenters, was shot dead outside her London home on April 26, 1999. Her killing became one the most high-profile and complex murder investigations in UK history.

It will blend archive footage, new research and interviews to revisit Dando’s life and detail what would become a notorious unsolved homicide.

To be aired on Netflix globally later this year, it will be directed by Marcus Plowright (Fred & Rose West: Unopened), with Cooper as executive producer.
