Netflix, Asian nets shop at TVFI

Netflix has picked up Australian doc China Love

Netflix and Discovery are among a host of platforms and networks in Asia to have acquired content from factual distributor TVF International.

Netflix has licensed Australian documentaries China Love (1×90’) and The Mosque Next Door (3×60’) for its line-ups in South-East Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

Discovery has picked up UAE from Above (1×60’) and Frontier Sumatra (1×60’) for its channels in South-East Asia and acquired Aerial Asia (4×60’) and Enemy of the Reich (1×60’) for India. It has also bought Strange Creatures (1×60’) for Asia.

Elsewhere, National Geographic has picked up Great Barrier Reef: A Living Treasure (4×45’) and Ocean Wild (4×50’) for its National Geographic Wild channel in Asia.

Meanwhile, TechStorm has secured the rights to seasons 11 and 12 of Innovation Nation (182×30’) and Did I Mention Invention (17×30’), while Pulse TV has picked up a package of titles including The Beautiful People (10×48’) and Freddie Flintoff Versus the World (8×46’).

In Korea, Dream N Company and Channel A have acquired Sign of the Times (5×45’), with Channel A also buying a raft of lifestyle and gardening titles including Hidden Villages (12×48’), Ageless Gardens (15×22’) and Brilliant Corners (5×52’).

Also in Korea, YNTV has secured the rights to In Search of Umami (6×23’) and NATV has picked up Dog’s Best Friend (22×25’).

In Hong Kong, TVB licensed a package of titles including 101 Easy Japanese, Simply Delicious, Little Big World (8×25’), The Food Files (45×23’) and Grand Spaces: Thailand (12×23’).

Also in Hong Kong, RTHK has secured the rights to Jimmy’s Big Bee Rescue (2×47’), Eugenics: Science’s Greatest Scandal (2×60’) and Venus: Death of a Planet (1×52’). ViuTV has picked up a package of titles including Vogue Williams Investigates (13×25’) and The Healthy Food Guide (10×23’).

In China, Bili Bili has acquired almost 100 hours of content including Real Deal: Auction Secrets (5×48’), The Secrets of Quantum Physics (2×59’) and Everything & Nothing (2×59’). Elsewhere in China, Youku has secured online rights to In Search of Umami (6×30’) and Great Barrier Reef: A Living Treasure (4×60’).

In Japan, NHK has picked up the rights to The Six: Titanic’s Last Secret (1×80’/1×60’), while TKL in Vietnam has acquired a 97-hour package for Hanoi TV that includes Being Me (36×29’) and Hidden Italy (16×25’).

Finally, in Thailand Thairath TV has picked up the rights to Spring at Jimmy’s Farm (4×45’) and Autumn at Jimmy’s Farm (4×45’).
