Netflix appoints former Epic Games exec Alain Tascan as president of games division

Netflix has named former Epic Games executive Alain Tascan as president of its games division.

Alain Tascan

Tascan previously spent five years as executive VP of game development at Epic Games in Montreal, working on titles including Fortnite, Rocket League and Fall Guys.

The exec, who is French but has lived and worked in Quebec for more than 20 years, will relocate to Los Gatos, California, for the new role. He will report to Netflix co-CEO Greg Peters.

Before joining Epic Games in 2018, Tascan held roles including CEO of Umi Mobile (2015 to 2018), president and CEO of Sava Transmedia (2011 to 2015) and VP and general manager of Electronic Arts Montreal (2003 to 2011).

His appointment comes one month after news emerged that Netflix’s former VP of games, Mike Verdu, who had led the streamer’s games operation for nearly three years, was shifting into an unspecified new role within the company.

Since launching its games division in 2021, Netflix has released more than 100 games based on some of its non-scripted and scripted titles including Squid Game, Love is Blind, Money Heist, Rebel Moon, The Ultimatum and Too Hot to Handle. Last month, it announced more than a dozen new titles, including games based on Emily in Paris, Selling Sunset and The Lord of the Rings.
