Netflix ANZ serves Run Wild and Mischief Media’s Grand Slam tennis doc Ballkids

Ballkids follows youngsters seeking a spot at the Australian Open

Streaming giant Netflix has picked up sports documentary Ballkids for its subscribers in Australia and New Zealand.

Made by Adelaide-based prodco Run Wild Productions and Mischief Media, the one-hour film is narrated by comedian Celia Pacquola. It follows the journey of tennis courtside assistants – or ballkids as they are more often known – as they progress through local and national trials.

Cameras follow the youngsters as they vie for a coveted spot at the Australian Open at Melbourne Park.

The deal was inked by Icon Film Distribution following the doc’s theatrical release across Village Cinemas in Victoria over the September school holidays. Rapt Distribution is handling worldwide sales.

Show producer Naomi Just and director Scott Baskett said: “We’re so excited for audiences to enjoy the stories of these unsung heroes of grand slam tennis.”
