Netflix adds Swedish crime series and Danish movie to 2025 Nordics line-up

Netflix has added more titles to its Nordic scripted slate for 2025, including a Swedish crime series and a Danish romantic drama film, the streamer announced on Thursday at its new Stockholm office.

Jenny Stjernströmer Björk, Netflix’s VP of Nordic content, unveiled Swedish crime show Synden, written and directed by Peter Grönlund (Goliat, Beartown), and Danish film Sult, written and directed by local comedy duo Ditte Hansen and Louise Mieritz and produced by Miso Film. In addition, Norwegian comedy-drama Home for Christmas will return with a third season.

In Synden, a teenager is found dead at a farmhouse and the perpetually angry but brilliant detective Dani (Krista Kosonen) is teamed up with newly graduated police colleague Malik (Mohammed Nour Oklah) to investigate.

Sult follows a successful writer who meets the love of her life in charming single father Emil, but their happiness is tested when they must turn to fertility treatment to have children of their own.

While Netflix has commissioned shows steadily in Sweden and Norway, it reduced its interest in Denmark after a local rights conflict erupted in 2022. The US streamer is now ready to return to the Danish market.

“After some challenging years with few new projects, we have been busy commissioning new titles,” Stjernströmer Björk told the Copenhagen TV Festival recently.

The exec previously introduced three new Danish titles for 2025: crime series The Legend, relationship drama Mango and documentary Christopher – A Beautiful REAL Life.

Netflix also revealed that a feature film, crime drama The Reservation, will premiere in 2025 and that Chestnut Man (Kastanjemanden), starring Sofie Gråbøl, will return for a second season in 2026.
