Netflix adds Korean original, adapts film

Global streamer Netflix has added a new Korean original to its slate and is adapting a Spanish movie into a drama series.

Korean drama series Glitch follows a woman who tries to track down her missing boyfriend with the help of a UFO club whose members pursue those who have disappeared in a mysterious beam of light.

Glitch is produced by Yoon Shin-ae’s Studio 329 and written by Gin Han-sai, the same creative team as that behind fellow Netflix Korean series Extracurricular.

Meanwhile, Netflix has also acquired global rights to develop Hasta el cielo, the new film by director Daniel Calparsoro (To Steal From a Thief), into a series.

From Spain’s Vaca Fims, the series focuses on a gang of thieves in Madrid. Jorge Guerricaechevarría (Balada triste de trompeta, The Day of the Beast) will write the script, with Daniel Calparsoro directing.
