Kenta Kiritani in drama Informa

US-based SVoD Netflix has picked up Japanese crime suspense series Informa for worldwide streaming.

Produced by Japanese commercial broadcaster Kansai TV, Netflix will carry the 10-part series in 190 countries outside Japan starting tomorrow.

Based on a novel of the same name by Garyo Okita, it stars Kenta Kiritani (Beck) as an informant working with a reporter played by Reo Sano (Rainbow Days) to investigate a mysterious series of Yakuza-linked murders.

The series started streaming on Netflix Japan earlier this week, climbing to number two in the platform’s Top 10 shows.

“We believe that Informa will be appreciated by drama lovers all over the world,” said Miho Okada, executive managing director at Kansai TV. “It is a unique drama which contains violence, action, suspense and romance.

Last October, Kansai TV launched investigative crime thriller Elpis: Hope or Disaster with a world premiere at Mipcom as part of a slate of content aimed at international audiences. It has sold to Viu in Hong Kong, Wavve in Korea and KKTV in Taiwan.
