Starring Adam Lundgren (Chernobyl) and Evin Ahmad (Beyond Dreams), the eight-part series will premiere exclusively across the Nordic region on Viaplay in 2021.

The show is based on Österdahl’s novels about a Russia expert and former special ops soldier who is plunged into a world of crime, corruption and international intrigue in St Petersburg after his lover disappears.

The series will be directed by Lisa Farzaneh (Quicksand) and Jesper W Nielsen (Greyzone), with Mikael Newihl (The Lawyer) as lead writer. It is being produced by Lejla Bešić and Jan Marnell of NENT Studios-owned Nice Drama alongside Twelve Town.

NENT group chief content officer Filippa Wallestam said: “Martin Österdahl witnessed history in the making when he lived in Russia during the tumultuous 1990s, and his globally successful books build on his first-hand knowledge of this fascinating country.”
