NENT Group’s Pørni gets double renewal

Pørni’s second season is currently in production

Nordic Entertainment (NENT) Group has renewed dramedy series Pørni for a further two seasons on its Viaplay streaming service.

Debuting on Viaplay earlier this month, Pørni is a 6×30’ comedy-drama about a working single mum who puts everyone else first ahead of herself, juggling two daughters, a nephew and a dad having a late-life crisis

The series was created by Henriette Steenstrup, who also stars, and is produced by Monster Scripted. According to NENT Group, the first season set a new record for the most successful premiere of a Viaplay original when it launched.

The second season of Pørni is currently filming in Oslo and is set to hit Viaplay next year. Israel-based Keshet International has picked up the distribution rights to the show.

Filippa Wallestam, NENT Group’s chief content officer, said: “Family life sometimes feels like one long dilemma, which might be why Pørni has immediately struck a chord with audiences. This is a show about a woman’s balancing act that itself gets the balance just right. Pørni is at once comic and tragic, sometimes awkward but, most of all, incredibly charming.”
