NENT Group, Adi Hasak open The Box

Nordic Entertainment (NENT) Group is partnering with US showrunner Adi Hasak for a third time, with the two parties working on a supernatural anthology series.

British actor Anna Friel is set to star in The Box, which will premiere on NENT Group streamer Viaplay across the Nordic and Baltic regions. Friel plays Sharon Pici, a Kansas City police detective locked in a room she cannot escape.

Hasak is the showrunner on the series and has written or co-written all eight 30-minute episodes. The co-writers are Paula Killen, Josh Azouz and Clare Siobhan Byrne.

The series, produced by Nice Drama (Midnight Sun), marks Friel’s first role since Marcella, for which she won the best actress International Emmy in 2017.

Shades of Blue creator Hasak is also working with NENT Group on Margeaux, an international drama about the Munich Olympics massacre, and is executive producer and showrunner on Perfect People, a forthcoming psychological thriller for NENT Group and Germany’s Leonine.

Production is set to begin in February 2021 in Stockholm.
