NENT gets Face to Face with crime

Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT Group) has ordered an eight-part Danish crime drama from the producers behind its forthcoming scripted series Darkness – Those Who Kill.

Face to Face (known as Forhøret in Denmark) is from Denmark’s Miso Film and will premiere across the Nordic region in late 2019 exclusively on NENT Group’s Viaplay streaming service.

The show follows Danish police detective Bjørn Rasmussen as he interrogates the suspects in the mysterious murder of his own daughter. The cast includes Lars Mikkelsen (House of Cards) and Ulrich Thomsen.

The series is directed by Christoffer Boe who co-writes with Jakob Weis. Jonas Allen and Peter Bose produce the show for Miso Film and Fremantle will distribute it internationally.

Jakob Mejlhede Andersen, NENT Group’s exec VP and head of content, said: “Our originals have been hugely successful in Denmark and across the Nordic region, and now we’re assembling a Danish dream team to create Face to Face and ask just how intense a crime series can be.”

Mejlhede Andersen described the show as “a minimalist drama of maximum suspense, where every glance and every word are full of meaning.”

NENT Group is aiming to produce 20 originals each year with its slate including The Truth Will Out, Four Hands Menu and Conspiracy of Silence.

In January, NENT Group announced a UK-based joint venture with award-winning independent studio FilmNation Entertainment to develop, produce and finance premium scripted television content for global audiences.
