Neighbours meet again as soap preps to air on Network 10, Amazon Prime Video

Australian soap Neighbours

Amazon’s resurrection of Australian soap Neighbours will see the new series air on Network 10 in Australia and globally on Amazon Prime Video in late 2023.

The series has gone into production and will begin filming again at its original Nunawading Studios in Melbourne, Victoria on April 17.

Under the screening deal with Amazon, the free-to-air broadcaster Network 10 retains first-run rights in Australia and will therefore screen the episode first, with Prime Video making the episode available seven days later on subscription streaming.

The series will premiere for free, exclusively on Amazon Freevee in the UK and US. The series will also stream on Prime Video in Canada, Ireland, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.

The series, originally produced by Fremantle, was shut down in 2022 after a 37-year run when UK production partner Channel 5 withdrew its partnership and funding.

Broadcaster Network 10 and Fremantle Australia failed in their bid to secure a replacement international partner until Amazon stepped in.

Prime Video is already streaming the back catalogue of old Neighbours episodes. Neighbours executive producer, Jason Herbison said: “It feels very real now. It’s a hive of activity at the studio. We’re busy writing the next chapter of Neighbours, bringing to life again the show’s much-loved characters as well as new residents.”
