NCIS, Blue Bloods among five CBS renewals

Police drama Blue Bloods has been given a 12th season

Viacom-owned US network CBS has renewed five of its scripted shows for new seasons, including NCIS and Blue Bloods.

The deal marks the 19th season of the drama, about a crime-solving team working for the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, on the US network.

Blue Bloods, a series about a multi-generational family of cops dedicated to New York City law enforcement, has been given a 12th run ahead of the premiere of its 11th season next month.

Also renewed for a new season is S.W.A.T, a reboot of the 1970s series of the same name that follows an African-American cop torn between loyalty to the streets and his fellow officers. The new season will be the show’s fifth.

Finally, CBS has ordered a fifth run of legal drama Bull, based on the early career of Phil McGraw, better known as US talkshow host Dr Phil, and a sixth season of Magnum PI, a remake of the 1980s detective hit.

All five series are produced by CBS Studios.
