NBCUniversal Formats’ The Profit heads to Asia with Central Television

The Profit aired in the UK as The Money Maker fronted by investor Eric Collins

Mongolian broadcaster Central Television is making a local version of NBCUniversal Formats business reality series The Profit.

The 10×60′ series will mark the first adaptation of the format series in Asia and is based on the original US version, which was produced by Machete Productions and ran for seven seasons on CNBC.

Due to air in a primetime 20.00 slot on Central Television, the Mongolian version will feature entrepreneur and mentor Temuulen Batmunkh as host, offering not only his expertise, but also capital investment to small businesses on the show in exchange for an ownership stake.

With his experience in running businesses across multiple industries for one of Mongolia’s leading conglomerates, Batmunkh will immerse himself in every aspect of the businesses’ day-to-day, challenging and interrogating their plans and visions for the future, to help them succeed in the competitive economic climate Mongolia is currently facing.

The format has previously been adapted for UK audiences on Channel 4, where it aired under the title The Money Maker and was fronted serial entrepreneur and seasoned investor Eric Collins.
