NBC to pilot Ferrell space comedy

US network NBC has ordered a trio of comedy pilots including a show about the 1960s space race that will be exec produced by Anchorman star Will Ferrell.

Mission Control is being produced by Universal TV and Gary Sanchez Productions and follows a boisterous woman who takes exception to the behaviour of one of the astronauts. Ferrell and Adam McKay are attached as exec producers.

NBC has also ordered Ellen More or Less, which is being produced by Universal TV and written by JJ Philbin. The show explores the life of a woman who loses weight and then reinvents herself, with Jason Katims, who’s also working on NBC comedy About a Boy, attached as exec producer.

The Dan Mazer (Borat) show explores the relationship between a husband and wife, and is being produced by Good Humor TV and 3 Arts, with Mazer, Tom Lassally and Tom Werner exec producing.

Multi-camera comedy Love is Relative has also been ordered to pilot.

NBC has this season so far ordered seven new comedy pilots in addition to its drama slate, which includes a remake of DC Comics’s Constantine and an adaptation of Spanish series Mysteries of Laura.
