NBC takes reality drive

US broadcast network NBC has secured new development deals with reality producers behind some of its biggest hits, including The Voice and Fear Factor.

Lee Metzger (The Voice), Alex Katz (The Biggest Loser), David A Hurwitz (Fear Factor) have all signed deals with the channel, which has also secured Jason Ehrlich, the producer of ABC’s The Bachelor.

The agreements follow similar deals with Howie Mandel and Jason Raff (both America’s Got Talent), Tom Shelly (Love in the Wild), and Craig Plestis (Minute to Win It). Plestis was formerly executive VP of alternative programming, development and specials at NBC before turning his hand to production.

NBC’s drive into reality series comes after the network picked up four new comedies and one new drama for its fall 2012 season. The network will host its annual Upfront presentation in New York next week.
