NBC orders Turkish drama remake

US network NBC has commissioned a remake of Turkish crime drama Game of Silence, with LA-based production firm Intrigue attached to produce the pilot.

Intrigue will remake the Global Agency series, with president Tariq Jalil executive producing, along with Carol Mendelsohn Productions, writer David Hudgins and Sony TV.

The project is based on the drama Game of Silence (aka Suskunlar), which aired in Turkey on Show TV in 2012, and was produced by local producer Timur Savci of Tims Productions.

Game of Silence, which has also aired in North Cyprus, Afghanistan and Macedonia, is based on Lorenzo Carcaterra’s 1995 novel Sleepers, and follows the story of four young men, once childhood friends, who are forced to deal with traumatic events from their past.

A Hollywood film of the same name featuring Brad Pitt and Robert DeNiro was made in 1996.

Global Agency’s head of sales Catherine Stryker and Intrigue’s VP of development Kelly Pancho facilitated the rights deal.
