NBC fights fire

US broadcast network NBC has ordered two more pilots to series, picking up a comedy from Jimmy Fallon and a new drama about firefighters set in Chicago.

Guys with Kids, produced by Fallon, is about a group of men who live in the same tower block and are each coming to terms with parenthood despite not growing up themselves.

It stars Jesse Bradford, Anthony Anderson and Zach Cregger. Amy Ozols and Charlie Grandy produce for Universal Television, with Grandy writing and Scott Ellis directing the pilot.

Chicago Fire, produced by Dick Wolf and Universal Television, focuses on the men and women of the Chicago Fire Department’s Firehouse 55. The cast includes Jesse Spencer, David Eigenberg, Charlie Barnett and Taylor Kinney.

The pilot was written by Derek Haas and Michael Brandt, and directed by Jeffrey Nachmanoff. It is exec produced by Danielle Gelber and Peter Jankowski.

The series order for Chicago Fire includes a 14th season commitment to Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, which is also produced by Wolf, and Stars Earn Stripes, coproduced by Wolf and Mark Burnett.

The two new pilot-to-season orders bring the number of new NBC pick-ups for this fall to eight. It has previously committed to JJ Abrams’ drama Revolution and comedies The New Normal, Animal Practice, 1600 Penn, Save Me and Go On.

NBC has also signed development deals with eight reality TV producers, including Lee Metzger (The Voice) and Alex Katz (The Biggest Loser).

The network will announce its official fall line-up at its Upfront presentation in New York next week.
