NBC exec in Comedy switch

Viacom International Media Networks has hired an NBC executive as VP of Comedy Central.

Lourdes Diaz was VP of programming at NBC and will now develop and commission scripted content for Viacom’s comedy channels outside the US.

She was previously at Green Moon Productions – owned by actors Antonio Bandaras and Melanie Griffiths – where she was head of creative affairs.

Diaz reports to Comedy Central UK’s MD Jill Offman, splitting her time between US and London offices.

“By adding Lourdes’ track record and comic sensibility to our team, we aim to strengthen relationships with key producers in both North America and the UK, and offer more content to our audiences across our expanding number of Comedy platforms around the world,” said Offman.

Viacom has also greenlit its first pilot for Comedy Central International. The multi-camera sitcom Mummy’s Boys will be produced by Big Talk and features the lives of three men whose lives change when their mothers suddenly die.
