NBC builds Wall of Fame

NBC in the US has ordered a new comedy gameshow from Endemol USA but has cancelled its hidden-camera series fronted by Betty White.

Newcomer Wall of Fame (8×60′) challenges families to answer pop culture trivia questions and predict which members of a celebrity panel also answered correctly.

Endemol USA will produce the format in the US, having previously produced Deal or No Deal for the network.

“This series offers something for everyone in a unique gameshow format that rewards families who know their pop culture trivia,” said Paul Telegdy, president of alternative and late-night programming at NBC.

The commission comes after NBC cancelled Betty White’s Off Their Rockers after two seasons (26×21′), during which ratings took a significant tumble following a premiere that attracted more than 12 million viewers in 2012.

The show, produced by Kinetic Content in the US, is based on Belgian prodco Shelter’s format Benidorm Bastards, in which senior citizens play pranks on unsuspecting young people.

The format has been sold into more than 20 countries, including Sweden (Kanal 5), Australia (Foxtel), the UK (ITV) and Spain (LaSexta).
