NATPE cancels next year’s Bahamas conference after filing for Chapter 11

NATPE’s Budapest in-person event returned this year

The National Association of Television Program Executives (NATPE) has cancelled its 2023 conference and marketplace, which had been due to take place in the Bahamas in January.

NATPE’s main annual meet had been scheduled to take place at the Baha Mar Resort in Nassau, Bahamas, from January 17 to 19 next year.

However, following the news at the start of October that the event organiser had filed a court petition to restructure its business affairs under Chapter 11 of the bankruptcy code, NATPE president and CEO JP Bommel confirmed this afternoon that the conference would not go ahead.

No decisions have been made at this time regarding NATPE Budapest, which takes place in the Hungarian capital annually in June, or other 2023 events.

NATPE has blamed the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, which prevented it from holding events including its 2021 and 2022 conference and marketplace that traditionally takes place in Miami.
