Nat Geo Kids circles Dot in Lat Am

Dot encourages children to connect with technology in a positive way

National Geographic Kids in Latin America has acquired an animated preschool series based on a book by Zuckerberg Media founder Randi Zuckerberg.

Dot (52×11’) is produced by Canada’s Industrial Brothers in association with The Jim Henson Company in the US and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC).

It tells the story of the tech-savvy titlular character who uses technology to discover the world and embark on adventures with her dog and friends. Zuckerberg, sister of Facebook boss Mark, serves as exec producer on the series, which is currently in production for season two.

Carmen Larios, senior VP of content strategy of National Geographic Partners in Latin America, said Dot “encourages kids to connect with technology in a whole new different way.”

She added: “It encourages kids to be curious, creative and play outside to discover the world. Dot is about empowering little girls and to give all kids the tools they need to learn about responsible use of technology.”

The acquisition of Dot comes on the back of Nat Geo Kids Lat Am’s purchase of fellow animation Pablo from UK distributor Cake.
