Mubi signs up for NBCU movies

Film streamer Mubi has agreed a multi-year SVoD deal with NBCUniversal across multiple territories covering an array of theatrical movies.

NBCUniversal’s Being John Malkovich

Mubi has acquired rights to movies including the Coen brothers’ black comedy A Serious Man, 1999 fantasy-comedy Being John Malkovich, 1993’s Dazed & Confused  and Touch of Evil from 1958.

Also on the slate are Alfred Hitchcock films including Rope, The Man Who Knew Too Much, Vertigo and Rear Window.

The deal covers European territories including the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland and The Netherlands.

The deal was struck by Mubi’s CEO and founder Efe Cakarel and follows similar agreements struck with the likes of Sony Pictures and Paramount Studios.

Mubi claims to have eight million registered users and offers only 30 titles at any one time.
