MTV International to air domestic violence documentary with Mia Boardman

Domestic Violence & Me: Mia’s Story aims to spread awareness about abuse

MTV International is gearing up to air a documentary fronted by Teen Mom UK star Mia Boardman that seeks to spread awareness about the signs and dangers of domestic abuse.

Domestic Violence & Me: Mia’s Story (1×60′) will air on MTV channels outside the US from October 13.

It shows Boardman sharing her story and speaking to friends, survivors, counsellors, police, campaigners and a former abuser to spread awareness about the all-too-common issue of domestic abuse.

The documentary was commissioned for MTV International by Kerry Taylor and Craig Orr, and executive produced by Iestyn Barker and Jamie Brannan. The documentary is also produced by True North, with executive producers Jess Fowle and Fiona O’Sullivan.

The announcement comes after Boardman earlier this year revealed her experiences of domestic violence and her escape from a violent attack by her ex-boyfriend, who was sentenced to 12 months in prison.

Organisations providing domestic violence services and resources who served in advisory roles and featured within the documentary include Northamptonshire Domestic Abuse Service, Splitz Support Services, Bristol University and Women’s Aid. Additional UK resources include Refuge and Galop: National LGBT+ Domestic Abuse Helpline.
