Mr Selfridge opens in Africa

Broadcasters in Africa and Europe have become the latest to acquire UK period drama Mr Selfridge, bringing the total number of countries airing the show to 99.

BBC Entertainment will air the series on its pan-territorial feed across Africa, while NBC Universal Global Networks Italia has picked up the drama for its Diva Universal channel.

Dutch pubcaster NPO has also acquired the series, which stars Jeremy Piven as the flamboyant American entrepreneur who opened his first department store in the UK in 1909.

It is distributed by ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVSGE) and was produced by ITV Studios. A second season (10×60′) is currently in production for ITV in the UK.

ITVSGE has previously sold Mr Selfridge to broadcasters including Vision TV in Canada, TVNZ in New Zealand, DR in Denmark and Sundance Channel Global, for countries in Asia and Latin America.
