Mr Bean toon to return next year

Mr Bean: The Animated series will return to screens in 2019

CITV in the UK and Turner’s Boomerang network are on board a third season of Mr Bean: The Animated Series, to be produced by Tiger Aspect Productions.

Rowan Atkinson will return to voice the iconic character for the 26×11′ new season, which is due to air in 2019 on CITV in the UK and across international markets with Turner.

The distribution deal was agreed with Endemol Shine International, the sales arm of Tiger Aspect Productions’ parent company Endemol Shine Group.

Atkinson will continue to be involved in the creative direction of the show, which sees Mr Bean and his companion Teddy embark on adventures, make new friends and get into mischief.

Tiger Aspect head of kids and animation Tom Beattie will produce the series with Katherine Senior, also of Tiger Aspect, as executive producer. Dave Osborne (Nexo Knights) will direct the series.

Atkinson first appeared on UK screens as the hapless Mr Bean in the live-action series more than 25 years ago, while the animated series has been sold in more than 70 territories. It also has a growing presence online, with Tiger Aspect claiming Mr Bean is the most popular entertainment brand on Facebook, with over 77 million fans.
