Mowbray resurfaces at Strix

MIP NEWS – Former K-World and Channel 4 exec Stephen Mowbray has joined Sweden's Strix Television to acquire, develop and sell new format ideas.

He told C21: {Strix is now looking to broaden its reach beyond reality formats and create new shows in the entertainment genre which retain a reality base. The company has made a massive impact in the market and – as one of the biggest producers in Sweden – is set to expand.{

On the look-out for new ideas Mowbray cautions against formats that may be too expensive to produce for a small market like Sweden.

{Faking It, for instance, is a great show but it would be prohibitively expensive to film over five weeks for a market with just 4.2 million viewers. Producers, coproducers and distributors need to appreciate that great ideas also need to be practical.{
