More change at Hallmark

There have been more management moves at US cablenet Hallmark Channel with the resignation of programming chief David Kenin.

Kenin’s exit from the network follows, the recent departure of Henry Schleiff, president and CEO of Crown Media, Hallmark’s parent company. Schleiff was replaced by advertising executive William Abbott.

No replacement for Kenin has been announced, although Michelle Vicary, senior VP of acquisitions, and Barbara Fisher, senior VP, original programming, are filling his shoes until a successor is named.

Kenin will leave the company at the end of the month.

Abbott said Kenin wanted to go “in another direction,” adding the company was “comfortable” with its remaining management team.

“David leaves us with a strong and experienced management team with which we’re comfortable,” Abbott said. “We will stay true to our brand and to family programming.” Kenin and his team have put together original movies that will take the cabler through first quarter of next year.”

Kenin joined Crown Media in 2002, and lead an increase in the network’s original and acquired programming. He was also behind the development and launch of the Hallmark Movie Channel.
