In this role, Albuquerque will report to Daniel Burman, head of original content in Latin America, and will lead the creative strategy and development of original productions in Brazil for Disney.

Her arrival at Disney marks the end of her time at Telemundo Studios, a company she joined in October 2024.

Albuquerque has more than 30 years’ experience in the media and entertainment industry and has held leadership positions at Telemundo Studios, Warner Bros Discovery Latin America and TV Globo.

His appointment marks a new step in Disney’s renewed content strategy in Latin America following the appointment of Martín Iraola as the new president for the region and the subsequent addition of Daniel Burman to lead regional originals.

“Monica is one of the most respected creative executives in the industry, with an exceptional track record in developing high-quality content with great cultural resonance,” Burman said.

“Her deep understanding of the Brazilian market, combined with her regional perspective and passion for storytelling, uniquely positions her to enhance our original content strategy in Brazil and further strengthen our connection with audiences.”

“After a formative period creating content for the US Hispanic market, which broadened my repertoire and strengthened my cultural perspective, I return to Brazil with a renewed sense of purpose, a fresh perspective, and a firm conviction in the power of our stories to connect with audiences around the world,” said Albuquerque.
