The deal, with Singapore-based production and distribution outfit Bomanbridge Media, is the first international sale of the show as well as Mongol TV’s first foreign food format.

The 26-part primetime series is currently airing on Food Network Canada in English, with a French-language version on Radio-Canada, as Chef À l’Oreille.

It has become Food Networks’ top show since its launch at the end of August, helping the channel increase its slot average by 172% among adults 18-49 compared with last year.

The format was created by Justin Scroggie and developed by French chef and host Ricardo Larrivée, with Michel Rodrigue, Lee Herberman and Henry Less.

Last month saw Warner Bros International Television Production pick up worldwide TV rights to the show, excluding Asia.

“Mongolians love to cook and audiences are sure to love the show,” said Mongol TV’s CEO Nomin Chinbat. “We were the last country to take Got Talent and just aired it to a 70% share in Mongolia – the highest rating ever for any programme. We look forward to taking Chef In Your Ear to this level.”

Earlier this year Mongol TV also picked up local format rights to Gogglebox.

Separately, Bomanbridge Media has picked up distribution rights to new reality fashion-fitness show Fit For Fashion with Asian prodco Imagine Group Entertainment, the creator of the show. It first aired on Fox Channels Asia in 2014 and a second season will launch in January.

Bomanbridge Media has regional offices in India, Korea and Mongolia and holds a 5,000-hour library of shows and formats covering the lifestyle, factual, drama and children’s genres.
