European producer and distributor Mondo TV has merged its division focusing on Spain, Portugal, Latin America and Spanish-speaking US with its Canary Islands operation.

Mondo TV Iberoamérica has been absorbed into Mondo TV Producciones Canarias to create Mondo TV Studios, which will be headquartered in Tenerife in the Canary Islands in offices that were announced in 2020.

Prior to the merger, Mondo TV Iberoamérica focused on the production of animated and live-action content for Spain, Portugal, Lat Am and Spanish-speaking US. It also oversaw the distribution of the Mondo TV portfolio and third-party content in those regions. More recently, Mondo TV Iberoamerica expanded into the development of TV fiction for adult audiences.

Mondo TV Producciones Canarias, meanwhile, specialises in 2D and 3D CGI animation and has been a coproducer on shows such as Bat Pat 2 and Nina & Olga, while it also provides animation services for third-party projects.

Mondo TV Studios will bring together all these skills, offering a wide range of animation services as well as production, coproduction and distribution, the company said.

Maria Bonaria Fois, CEO of Mondo TV Studios, said: “The audiovisual industry has been experiencing a wave of accelerated innovation, one that has inspired us to strengthen our business model and boost our production capacities.

“This is, we believe, an ideal time to unite what were two business brands, merging them to create one company, a company with the same values but much better positioned for the challenges and opportunities of the future.”
