Nickelodeon in Greece has acquired an animated series about the world of emojis, the symbols routinely used in email and mobile messaging.

The Viacom-owned network has picked up The Mojicons (52×11′) from Danish distributor Ink Global and will begin airing the toon later this month.

The series reveals the behind-the-scenes world of the internet, populated by ‘mojicons,’ as they try to fix a bug in the system.

It comes from Russian creators Alexander Romanetz and Viacheslav Marchenko and is aimed at four- to 10-year-olds.

Natasa Lesioti, programming and editorial director of Nickelodeon Greece, described the series as “fresh, funny and original.”
