Minnie Driver-fronted heist thriller The Day greenlit by Paramount+

Global streamer Paramount+ has announced eight-part heist thriller The Day (w/t), based on Belgian series De Dag, for subscribers in the UK and Ireland.

It’s coproduced and developed by LA-based Dynamic Television (Drops of God) and London-headquartered outfit Clapperboard Studios (The Teacher), with Dynamic handling global distribution.

The story follows a bank robbery, with the criminals barricading themselves inside the bank to avoid police officers. Minnie Driver plays hostage negotiator Sylvia Voxley, with supporting roles taken by Luca Pasqualino (Rivals) and Louisa Harland (Derry Girls).

It’s inspired by the 2018 Flemish series De Dag, created by Jonas Geirnaert and Julie Mahieu.
