Millstreet in development on Queen Máxima drama

Queen Máxima

NEWS BRIEF: Amsterdam-based Millstreet Films is developing a drama series about Queen Máxima, the Argentina-born Wall Street executive who became Queen of the Netherlands.

Based on Marcia Luyten’s book Máxima Zorreguieta: Motherland, the series will chronicle Máxima’s life from her turbulent early days in Buenos Aires through her time as a Manhattan socialite to the end of her ‘normal’ existence in 1999, when the press revealed her relationship with Dutch Crown Prince Willem-Alexander. Casting for the title role starts this week.

The drama, which will be filmed in Argentina, Spain, New York and the Netherlands, is directed by Anne de Clercq, Agustina Macri and Joosje Duk. It is written by Marnie Blok, Ilse Ott, Marcela Guerty and Judith Goudsmit, and produced by Millstreet’s Rachel van Bommel.
